About Kaunas Regional Waste Management Center
The Public Institution Kaunas Regional Waste Management Center was established on March 2, 2005, with the aim of creating a coherent and sustainable waste management system in the Kaunas region.
The project “Creation of the Kaunas Regional Waste Management System” was allocated 63.6 million LTL from EU and national funds, of which the EU Cohesion Fund financed 75%. The project duration was 2004-2009.
Waste Sites
Currently, there are 15 large and hazardous waste acceptance sites (DGASA) and three green waste sites (ŽAKA) operating in the Kaunas region. Household waste, except municipal waste, is accepted only from residents at the waste acceptance sites! Waste is accepted free of charge.
